GROUP or INDIVIDUAL? What kind of lessons to take?
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to play piano, the Keys for Kids method has made it as easy, fun and inviting as possible. Our lessons are different than the traditional lessons most people grew up with. First of all, the students meet in small groups, rather than individually. We include time for improvising, composing, and playing music games which helps to take the drudgery out of such drill work as learning notes, intervals, chords, etc. Our students learn to pick up songs by-ear, transpose those songs to other keys, and add an accompaniment. Their understanding of musical patterns and structures allows students to learn pieces quicker, retain them longer, and interpret more sensitively. There are many ideas shared in a group, and always a buoyant energy, making it really fun for everyone involved.
Individual lessons are recommended for continuing students to further develop performing skills. While offering a balanced exposure to different styles, our individual lessons allow students to focus on their musical preferences, from classical piano to popular movie tunes, musicals, or jazz. Music theory, history and analysis are incorporated into the study of each piece.
